BROOKLYN, NY – The Brooklyn Aviators extended their winning streak to five after an 8-3 victory over the Akwesasne Warriors at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Federal Hockey League action.

Lucas Schott and Casey Mignone each had two goals on the night, while the A’s power-play went 6-for-10 to help fuel the offense.

Brooklyn jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Akwesasne after the first period of play behind Schott’s two power-play goals.  Schott put the Aviators on the board, 1-0, at the 7:50 mark after his wrister beat Warriors’ netminder Adam Thompson from the right-wing circle.  Mignone doubled Brooklyn’s lead, 2-0, with 5:15 left on a wraparound goal for his second marker in as many games.  Schott added another power-play tally at the 15:53 spot on a beautiful redirection in front of new Akwesasne goalie David Plouffe to give the Aviators a three-goal edge.

Pierre Dagenias opened the scoring in the second period with two goals just 1:38 apart to cut into the Aviators lead at 3-2.  Brooklyn though, answered with three straight markers to take a 6-2 lead into the second intermission.  Nick Petriello tallied an even strength marker at the 3:37 mark to regain the A’s two-goal lead on his fourth of the year.  Jesse Felten and Henry Coxe then cashed in on the power-play later in the frame that put Brooklyn up 6-2 over Akwesasne.

In the third period, Mignone added his second of the night on the power-play, along with Ken Trentowski, to ice the victory for the Aviators 8-3.

Jo St. Pierre picked up his eighth win for the Aviators stopping 26 shots, while Thompson is charged with the loss for Akwesasne.

The Aviators return to action tonight when they take on the Danbury Whalers at the Danbury Ice Arena
