STLOUIS, Mo – The Blues managed to take a couple wins this week, holding their own through all four games.  While they would drop one in regulation, they managed to lose the second in overtime picking up a point for the efforts.  The St. Louis Blues have seven games remaining prior to their Olympic Game break.  With five home games and two road games at Chicago and Colorado, St. Louis could make a move to place themselves in a tighter mix for a playoff spot for the final stretch.

Schedule Results of the Past Week:

January 25, 2010

Blues 2, Calgary 0

Calgary, Alberta – The Calgary Flames were relentless in their pressure all evening firing 34 shots on net.  However, Ty Conklin would have nothing of it as he would turn away all 34 shots for the shutout victory to lead the Blues.  Patrik Berglund and David Perron would score for St. Louis to give the Blues their 23rd win this season.

Team News: The St. Louis Blues have had a string of injuries hit them of recent.  While most have been minor injuries hampering guys for one or two games, each has taken a toll.  St. Louis has made the most of the issues bringing guys up form Peoria allowing them to get opportunities.

Blue’s Clues: The St. Louis Blues were outscored 8-7 this week.  One goal was the difference for the Blues 2-1-1 week.  Neither of the Blues two losses were by more than one point. Their win of Calgary was a 2-0 shutout, their best showing of the month by far.  The Blues have struggled to score all season, but have made the most of every point.

Quote of the Week: Captain Eric Brewer on the Blues play of late:

"We desperately need wins right now.  We are in a long drive here. We've made up a little ground, but it seems like everybody is winning games. You have to get points every night if you want to make up any ground. All we were concerned with was getting the two points."
