MANCHESTER, UK - MANCHESTER Phoenix continued their winning run with a 3-2 overtime victory against Bracknell Bees. Slava Koulikov fired home the decisive marker 46 seconds into the extra period after his side had dominated the match. Phoenix fired 53 shots at Carl Ambler in the Bees goal but he was in remarkable form. After a scoreless first period Bracknell shocked their hosts when Scott Spearing took advantage of a neutral zone slip up to power past Stephen Fone. But Manchester were more than in charge and it was no surprise when Koulikov stuffed in a rebound and Jaroslav Spelda scored to make it 2-1. Phoenix should have then gone on to record a comfortable victory – Josh Ward and Koulikov both hitting the post as the home side pressed. And they were punished when Lukas Smital went high on Fone for the equaliser. But as Alex Barker went to the bin for Delay of Game, Phoenix took full advantage and Koulikov blasted home the winner from Martin Cingel's sweet feed. Manchester have now won their last four games to cement fourth place in the English Premier League table. They are 10 points behind Guildford as they seek to retain their EPL crown, but with player-coach Tony Hand and forward Tom Duggan to return, the title chase is still very much on.
