BRACKNELL, UK- Bracknell bounced back from a disappointing defeat to edge Peterborough in overtime.

Having been crushed by the Phantoms the previous night, The Bees gritted their teeth and came away with a hard-fought victory at The Hive.

Bracknell took the early initiative, but Peterborough thought they had snatched victory when James Spurr scored with three minutes left to play. However, a power play goal from Greg Randall with 32 seconds on the clock forced overtime, allowing Andrius Kaminskas to score the winner for the Bees.

The Bees are starting to believe they can compete with the better teams in the league, and this will give them a lot of confidence as they approach the playoffs. The home side took a commanding lead when Adam Bicknell found the net in the forth minute.

The hosts held their lead and extended it in the second period. Andrius Kaminskas scored on the power play, and Jaroslav Cesky made it a three-goal game after good work from Michal Pinc.

Bracknell were comfortably in control of the game, but the Phantoms had showed their strength in depth with six different scorers in their 6-1 win the previous night. Joe Miller was the first to strike for the away side on the power play to give them a chance of turning the game around.

Peterborough came to life in the third period and dominated, hitting 17 shots at Adam Marashi. The Phantoms made it a one-goal game after only 22 seconds of the period. Brent Gough scored after being fed by Maris Ziedins to put the pressure firmly on the Bees.

Joe Miller scored Peterborough’s inevitable equaliser with his second goal of the game with ten minutes remaining. The Bees had their chances to win in regulation, but the Phantoms looked like they would take all the spoils when James Spurr scored on the power play late on, giving The Bees little time to respond.

HoweverBracknell have put in some very determined performances of late. They kept their concentration and were rewarded when Greg Randall struck on a 5-on-3 to force overtime. The Bees took a power play into overtime and needed only 47 seconds to seal the win.

Kaminskas struck after being fed by Claude Dumas to give Bracknell a deserved win. Peterborough showed a lot of character to fight back and almost win the game. They took too many bad penalties late on and The Bees’ patient power play was good enough to take the win.
