ATLASVILLE, SOUTH AFRICA - As many of you know the last month and a bit on RSA has been a bit hectic with the world cup happening. All sports seemed to take a back seat to this and due to the school holidays we could not get ice time so the league went on a month long break.

The last two weekends have seen the rise of the Pretoria Warriors bolstered by the return of Cameron Birrel, a South African plying his trade in America and accompanied by one of his team mates from America, David Pierce.

Pierce and Birrel made a big difference to the team and the pace the game was been played at. The warriors First line of, Cameron Birrel, David Pierce and Andre Marais up front have been dominating and the back two, Joe Olivier and Alan Verwey have been extremely strong. The team has won their last games against Scorpions by scores of 7-3 and 6-2.

This coming weekend sees the first game back for the Wildcats, they will be facing the warriors in a much anticipated rematch. The Warriors however will be without their two stars, Birrel and Pierce who have returned to America for try outs.

The upcoming weeks in South Africa are looking exciting with the Under 18 inter provincial tournament, the ladies tournament and the Senior National Tournament taking place in September. This year a lot of emphasis will be put on the Senior Teams as everyone wants to make the team to represent their country on home soil. The World Championships Div III are been held in April 2011 in Cape Town.

Updates of weekly happenings will be coming more regularly now as the season kicks into high gear.

All the best.

Gary.
