QMJHL Telus three stars of the week for January 30th to February 5th
Gourde, Graham and Bernard earns QMJHL honor

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Victoriaville Tigres forward Yanni Gourde, Drummondville Voltigeurs goaltender Dominic Graham and forward Jessyko Bernard of the Prince Edward Island Rocket earned the Telus three stars of the week for the week. 

 

Comfortably seated as scoring leader in the QMJHL with 11 points lead over Zach O’Brien of the Acadie-Bathurst, the Victoriaville left winger Yanni Gourde was named the first star collecting 4 assists in a 8-7 loss in overtime against the Rimouski Oceanic last Wednesday February 1st. On Friday in a 6-1 win against Baie-Comeau Gourde also ended that game earning the first star following a 2 goals 2 assists performance. Ending with 4 points or more for an 11 games this season the Tigres left winger is just 1 point shy of his 100th.

 

Being undefeated in his most recent 6 outings in regulation time, Dominic Graham of the Drummondville Voltigeurs earned the Telus second star. Sitting in first place overall in the QMJHL standing the Saint John Sea Dogs saw Graham made 43 saves being named the first star of the game even if Drummondville ended losing the game 3-2.

 

In Saturday 2-1 win against the Rimouski Oceanic the Voltigeurs netminder earned the second star of that game making 27 saves. The Oceanic had just scores 17 goals in their last two outings.

 

The third star went to Prince Edward Island right winger Jessiko Bernard ending his week with 6 points. Beginning with a 4-1 win versus the Moncton Wildcats last Tuesday Bernard scored 1 goal adding an assist. On Thursday impressive 9-6 victory against Cape Breton the Rocket right winger recorded 3 points scoring 1 goal, the 7th in the game becoming the game winning goal.

 

The next day the Rocket wins for the second times against the same Screaming Eagles by the score of 4-2 scoring another game winning goal breaking a 2-2 tie game being his 15th goal of the regular season.
