QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —After a lopsided loss Friday night in Quebec against Rimouski, Quebec head coach Patrick Roy seemed interested in how his team would react against Blainville Boisbriand. Entering with a record of 4- 5 in 10 overtime matches, Quebec thought they had a chance to salvage their weekend playing a good overall game.

But Armada center Jess Tanguy had other ideas, scoring the game winning goal in a 2-1 win with 1:52 remaining in OT.

Neither team was able to open the scoring in first period in Blainville-Boisbriand on Saturday.

Dominating, 15- 8 in shots on goal after the first period, Quebec saw Armada netminder Etienne Marcoux make his best saves against Mikhail Grigorenko, Alexandre Contois, Anthony Duclair, Logan Shaw and Adam Erne. Francois Brassard, on the other end reserved his best saves against Armada forwards Cedric Paquette and Samuel Hodhod on Blainville-Boisbriand 8 shots.

Shutout on their first power play opportunity in the game, Quebec opened the scoring on their second chance with a man advantage, during a penalty to Olivier Picard who had been sent to the box for tripping. Anthony Duclair did not give any chance to Blainville-Boisbriand netminder completing the play on great pass from Grigorenko at 11:23 of second period.

Blainville-Boisbriand tied the game one all, on a goal by left winger Christopher Clapperton 15th of the season 1:16 into the third period. Unable to score on their first power play opportunity, Blainville-Boisbriand missed another excellent chance with 7:42 remaining in the third period on penalty to Quebec forward Adam Erne.

Being screened, Brassard closed the door on Nikita Kolesnikov’s shot from the slot preserving the tie game. Teams went in overtime battling for the additional point.

Quebec will play his next game on Tuesday night hosting the Acadie-Bathurst Titans.
